Hey HBC fans! Summer has flown by so quickly it’s hard to believe! Just wanted to update everyone on what has been going on since our last blog post—we had three different pouring events that we participated in this summer.

The first event was the Dauphin County Brewfest, which was held at Fort Hunter in Harrisburg. The turnout at the event was awesome—we took four different beers and they were all consumed with time remaining. We enjoyed talking to everyone who was patient waiting in the impressive lengthy line to our beer.

Next was the Gettysburg Brewfest on Seminary Ridge near the Battle Fields. This was our first time attending this event so we didn’t know what to expect other than there should be a large crowd—there were so many new faces enjoying our beer! Also it was interesting talking to people with cannon fire in the background thanks to the Civil War enactors.

Special thanks to Cassie from Molly Pitcher for tapping the firkin.

Third was Carlisle’s Beer Crawl in the Fall. This event was to bring awareness/business to the business on Pomfret St. in Carlisle. Our setup was in Shannon Hemauer Photography‘s new boudoir and contemporary glamour studio, which is on the third floor of a building…without an elevator. We have to thank everyone who joined us up there—you really earned your beer climbing all those stairs! Many new faces as well as some old friends of the brewery came out for sampling. The event exceeded our expectations and was a great afternoon with the crowd.

Amid all these brewfest I have begun writing the Brewery’s business plan. If anyone reading this has taken on the challenge of writing a business plan you know just how daunting of a task it really is. I can tell you at this time the plan is just about complete and equipment is starting to be purchased. Also later this month we anticipate the local township zoning board will have a special hearing to hear arguments to allow us to manufacture our beer at our residence. If they accept our arguments they will grant us a special exemption to the zoning law and we can officially start working on the licensing process with the federal and state government.

And finally we joined the Brewers of Pennsylvania—check out our page HERE—which means we’ll be listed on the PA Beer Trail. SWEET!

So that about brings everyone up to speed on what has been happening at the HBC. At this time there are no events scheduled—time to focus on starting the brewery. But if something is added to the schedule we will let you all know.

Cheers
Brooks
